I've just spotted this article so my suggestion may be old hat by now but what about this one for iPad users? Download the free piaScore app and access the massive IMSLP resource - it's transformed my sight reading (in time spent, rather than results, I hasten to add!!) and I've saved a considerable selection to learn properly later - AND there's the convenience of being able to "turn the page" with a shake of the head (but don't fiddle with your hair, or look out of the window during a piece or you'll find yourself on the wrong page...).

Congratulations and blessings to Merton, its choir and its music staff! I was tremendously surprised and overjoyed at the news of the Merton Organ's installation. Lyn Dobson and I became acquainted in the mid-'80's when I moved to central Iowa. I'm a Missouri native, but have been a staunch Iowan since 1965, a retired UMC pastor/organist/music educator/accompanist, still teaching voice, Piano, and Organ, and playing in an ELCA Lutheran Church here in Marshalltown, Iowa. Dobson's have the care of our almost-100-year-old Kilgen organ. The CD that was cut and recently released is magnificent. I really appreciate this website as well. Thanks very much. Pstr. Ken Suetterlin, Marshalltown, Iowa USA

Dear Jennifer,
Hope you had a good birthday. Many happy returns! The cake looks fabulous. Many thanks for introducing me to the organ music of Oliver Messaian may years ago at a recital in Sheffield Cathedral. We are fortunate enough to possess in my home village (Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire, Scotland) a beautiful old organ insatalled by the London based company Hill in the West Church in 1904. It has 3 manuals, pedal board and about 30 speaking stops. Despite its age, and without any major overhauls, it is still in good working order. It would grace a small cathedral. Have you ever played or seen this instrument which is reputed to be one of the best of its type in Scotland? I have had the good fortune to play a few simpler pieces on it.
My best wishes for your future,
 yours sincerely,
 David Hollis.

I have tried for a long while now to find a copy of the Flight Of Bumblebee for organ pedal solo to no avail and I keep coming back to Joyce Jones for further inspiration. If anybody knows where I can find a copy Please Please let me know.

I was once a personal friend of Herbert, and often visited his Bungalow home in Bexleyheath. In his study and teaching room stood his Moor. He once took his Moor to The Wigmore Hall, and a capable pianist played it. I was present at this performance. He was a very interesting person. I was about 25 and he encouraged my skills in other areas, by commissioning models or carpentry projects that grabbed his attention.

Good to know I am not alone in remembering him and his passion for the Moor piano.

It's so hilarious to imagine students traveling around the city with pedal boards on a pick-up... and a serious face for preparation... But seriously, pedalwork isn't child's play, especially when it's an organ you're not used to.

That's why after reading the many blogs and suggested items on this page, I purchased myself a book by no other than Madam Joyce Jones, "Pedal Mastery: For Organ"

Helped a lot even though I didn't get to finish it... Good luck to all performing organists during this course! :)

Robin,
I'm also very interested in your transcription.
I've to play a little concert within a few months and the theme is 'Journey / Voyage' .
This piece would be appropriate in the programma.
